Professor Dr. Shogo Arai

Tokyo University of Science, Japan

Expert in Robotics, Vision, and Intelligent Mechanical Systems

Professor Dr. Shogo Arai is a leading researcher in the field of robotics, robot vision, and intelligent mechanical systems at the Tokyo University of Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Science from Tohoku University in 2010, following his undergraduate studies in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Over the past two decades, Prof. Arai has contributed extensively to the advancement of robot perception, visual servoing, and intelligent motion planning, integrating cutting-edge techniques such as machine learning and quantum computing into robotic applications.

His current research focuses on robot vision-based picking and object transfer, active visual servoing, low-cost 3D recognition for industrial automation, and simultaneous optimization of factory layouts and robot motion. Recently, he has also explored innovative areas such as quantum-based motion generation and automatic disassembly systems for recycling and sustainability.

Prof. Arai’s outstanding research has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2021 Young Scientists Award from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and multiple Excellent Presentation Awards from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME). He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the 2025 JSME Robotics and Mechatronics Conference Program Committee, highlighting his active leadership in Japan’s robotics community.

His visionary work bridges fundamental science and industrial applications, driving forward the next generation of intelligent, adaptive, and sustainable robotic systems.

Professor Dr. Mohd Amran Mohd Radzi

Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia

Expert in Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, and Energy Storage Systems

Prof. Dr. Mohd Amran Mohd Radzi received his BEng. and his MSc. degrees from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and his PhD degree in 2010 from University of Malaya. He is currently a Professor in Power and Energy at Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Currently, he is Head of Department of Development Excellence, Faculty of Engineering. He is also Head of Advanced Lightning, Power and Energy Research (ALPER) Centre. His research and teaching interests are power electronics, power quality, renewable energy and energy storage. He has authored and co-authored over 200 journals and conference proceedings. He has been supervising more than 80 PhD and Master candidates.

He is actively in research and consultation work on more than 40 projects in amount of more than RM 8 million. Prof. Amran has been working with several international academicians from various countries and regions since his early career stage. Initially he was representative as Young Researcher under Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE) Forum, a platform initiated by Kyoto University Japan, with participation of universities from ASEAN and India. He further continued with a project under European Commission through Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education (CBHE) titled “Enhancement of engineering skills of students of all levels for application of evidence based sustainable renewable energy solutions in the built environment – SKYBELT”, which covers collaborators from Italy, United Kingdom, Turkey, China, Thailand and Malaysia. He has also been actively engaging with several government and industrial partners, and among them are Public Works Department, Department of Standards Malaysia, Petronas, AS Engineering, UAT Air Conditioning Sdn. Bhd. and Realm Technology Sdn. Bhd.

Prof. Amran is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Chartered Engineer, U.K. He is currently active in IEEE society through his role as Vice Chair of IEEE Power Electronics Malaysia Chapter. He is also member of Energy Committee, Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). He has also been involved with various leading roles in international conferences and is actively invited as advisors, keynote, guest and plenary speakers.
